JOFAT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
JOFAT-Junior Olympic Fencing Archery Training founded by Professor Harry Baker Jr. at Iron Dragon Kenpo Academy 498 Main St. Orange, NJ, is a New Olympic pathway youth development program that merges two Olympic precision sports – Fencing and Archery -with Martial Arts discipline and STEM education for Central and Northern Jerey residents.
While New Jersey produces elite athletes, youth in Orange, Newark, and surrounding cities have almost zero access to Junior Olympic Fencing or Olympic Archery. These are expensive suburban-based sports. JOFAT changes that.
JOFAT uses the acronym to teach our core values:
J-Junior Olympic Pathway Training aligned with USA Archery Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) standards , Footwork, blade work, bow mechanics, “SHOT PROCESS’’ and tournament readiness.
O-Olympic Discipline, Focus, respect, mental control, and code of conduct Iron Dragon Code- Voice First, Feet-Second, Hands -Last
F-Focus & Fitness Combines-Kenpo-Karate, agility, Combat Jiu-Jitsu-core strength, and Olympic sport conditioning, Improves concentration for school.
A-Accuracy & Anatomy: Every lunge is physics; every shot is math. Students learn angles, force, vectors, trajectory, breathing control, and anatomy.
T-Technology & Tactics: Modern scoring systems, equipment, engineering and tactical decision-making under pressure.
Led by Professor Harry Baker Jr. .Lincoln Lawerence, JOFAT provides, a safe structural alternative to the street after 3 pm. NO HARD HEAD CONTACT, or EXTREME FRACTURES. All levels welcome.
The Need in Central Jersey & Northern New Jersey
Access Cap: Junior Olympic Fencing and concentrated in affluent Central Jersey suburbs. Families in Orange (07050), East Orange, Newark, Paterson, and Trenton find it difficult to afford $300 -$500/month plus equipment.
Opportunity Gap: NJ student athletes of color are severely underrepresented in USA Fencing and USA Archery Junior Olympus pipelines.
Safety& STEM Gap: The rise in concussions in contact sports are concerns to modern parents. Youth need programs with a low incidence of injuries that teach precision patience and science -not just aggression. Fencing and Archery are moving physics labs.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Golden Eagle Youth Leadership Corps (GEYLC) is a new ROTC-style youth leadership academy that combines what works for North Jersey youth:
Martial Arts + Archery + Fencing + K9 Kids Training + Health & Nutrition + STEM Science
Most ROTC programs teach marching. We teach movement, measurement, and mission.
GEYLC gives Orange, Newark, and North Jersey youth the structure of a cadet program without the military contract. We build leaders who can protect themselves, feed themselves, focus, and serve.
We call it the 7 Pillars of a Golden Eagle Cadet:
M – MARTIAL ARTS – The Body
Kenpo Karate + Combat Jiu-Jitsu Survival. Safety First Protocol: Voice First, Feet Second, Hands Last. Anti-bullying, NJ self-defense law, de-escalation, and discipline. No hard head contact.
A – ARCHERY – The Focus
Olympic Recurve Archery led by Founder & Chief Archery Instructor Harry Baker Jr. Breathing, eye anatomy, trajectory, parabolas, heart rate control. Every shot is math.
F – FENCING – The Mind
STEM Fencing led by Chief Instructor Lincoln Lawerence. Blade angles, footwork physics, leverage, distance management, and tactical decision-making. Physical chess.
K9 – K9 KIDS TRAINING – The Team
Puppy K9 safety, crate training, handling, and leadership. Kids learn dog behavior science, commands, leash handling, puppy tracking, basic obedience, and responsibility. Teaches empathy, voice control, and pack leadership. Working Puppy socialization 3-8 months
H – HEALTH & FITNESS – The Engine
Youth combat conditioning, mobility, flexibility, CPR/First Aid basics (age appropriate), hygiene, sleep science, mental health & anti-violence, conflict resolution coping skills.
N – NUTRITION – The Fuel
Led by Founder Harry Baker Jr. – "Eat Like an Athlete" curriculum. Diet, exercise cornerstone of prevention and therapy, hydration math, reading labels, sugar science, meal prep on a budget for 07050 families. STEM: How food becomes energy.
S – STEM SCIENCE – The Mission
Every pillar is measured. Journals, protractors, heart rate monitors, and video review. Anatomy, Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Force, energy, Laws of Motion, trajectory, nutrition science, and K9 behavioral science.
CADET STRUCTURE – ROTC STYLE (Non-Military)
To create buy-in, GEYLC uses ROTC-style structure without claiming U.S. Army affiliation:
Ranks (Earned, not given):
Eaglet Recruit -> Cadet -> Team Leader -> Squad Leader -> Platoon Guide -> Golden Eagle Cadet Commander
Uniform: Golden Eagle Corps T-Shirt, tactical pants, academy patch, name tape. No military uniforms.
